Wastewater/Laboratory Operator
Job Description:
The individual filling this position has the responsibility of conducting operations involving the operation of the wastewater pretreatment system and purified water system, assist with basic chemical laboratory work, chemical maintenance and inventory control, hazardous waste and calibration of process equipment.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Control and maintain waste treatment and waste disposal.
- Maintain wastewater and purified water systems.
- Maintenance of solution tanks.
- Track chemical inventories, maintain chemical labeling and storage areas.
- Coordinate shipments/deliveries as well as internal routing of chemicals and hazardous waste materials within the facility.
- Perform all operations regarding the shipping of hazardous waste.
- Assist the Laboratory personnel to inventory and maintain the emergency response equipment.
- Perform calibrations of various process related instruments including pH, TDS, Conductivity, and thermocouple devices.
- Assist in chemical/metallurgical laboratory analysis, as needed.
- Segregate and store incoming chemical and waste products for disposal.
- Contributes in 5S and Lean manufacturing processes, including Kaizen (continuous improvement).
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management as part of cross-training or cross functional responsibilities.
- Work in a safe manner following safety guidelines and policies
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following company co guidelines
- Assist in maintenance and operation of treatment systems, boilers, and equipment in general
- Maintain cleanliness of wastewater and surface treatment areas.
Profile:
Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Skills / Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 1 years of wastewater experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience operating a forklift is preferred
- Basic knowledge and skill of Microsoft Office and applicable data entry software applications
- Must possess basic math skills
- Must be willing to obtain a wastewater license from the State of Oklahoma, if required
- Must be able to complete and perform requirements of Hazwoper, RCRA, and OSHA required training.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel with the organization
- Must be able to understand and carry out instructions pertaining to the management of hazardous waste
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Must enjoy working in a team environment and be willing to accommodate flexible working schedules, including shift work.
- Must be able to demonstrate safe practices and follow safety guidelines.
- Work under minimal supervision while handling multiple job requirements.
- Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Good manual dexterity with the ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time in a repetitive manufacturing environment.
- Participate in a cross training and cross functioning team environment.
- Able to take and pass visual, physical, and respiratory fit testing exams and wear an air-purifying respirator, if required
- Must be able to travel domestic and internationally, especially during initial project start-up.
- Must be currently eligible/authorized to work in the United States.
